Day by day

Looking back on last year, we've really tried to whittle down our weekly rides to focus on the ones which saw the biggest turn out, and which people seemed to enjoy most. I think we've definitely made some improvements.

The changes aren't groundbreaking, but a the addition of a few rides here and there, and the phasing out of one or two others should have a big impact. Cold winter-y evenings and the prospect of racing did deter people form last year's track evenings, while the desire for short, sharp rides that would fit snugly around demanding university schedules really attracted members to early morning pace line rides. Yep. Early Mornings. Who knew?

In an effort to make riding enjoyable for newcomers, we'll be introducing a new "skills" ride every week, as well as working towards bigger Sunday rides with groups catering to all levels of fitness.

Racing was an important addition to the club's rota last year, and it's something we want to take a more structured approach to this year - especially in light of some insane performances from Cyril and Gabriel in the Hog Hill Winter Series this year. This will mean better planning for transit to and form races, more focused training and clearer information for those interested in getting into it.

Add all of that to a weekly rota that was already great, and it almost feels like term can't come soon enough.
